Thiamine (Vitamin B1):
Sources – dried yeast, whole grains, meat, cereal products, nuts, legumes, potatoes, wheatgerm, pork
Function – cardiac function, nerve cell function, carbohydrate metabolism (Thiamin pyrophosphate is an essential co-enzyme for decarboxylation of pyruvate to acetylco-enzyme A which is the link between the Krebs cycle and anaerobic glycolysis)
Deficiency  beriberi, peripheral neuropathy, Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, muscle weakness
