Advantages:
– accurate and high resolution
– quick and clean
– no shipping costs (transmitted digitally)
Disadvantage:
– compromises in foot position and design process
Most common output is a stereolithography file (STL)
Problem is in orthotic design process from scans:
– orthotic shell shapes during design process varies due to CAD program rendering and use of shortcuts – can be more variable than plaster process.
