Microcel Puff® is a brand of EVA from Acor who own the trademark. It is most widely used as a foot orthotic topcover, but has other foot orthotic uses.
Microcel Puff is produced in 5 Shore A durometers: 25, 35, 45, 55 and 65, with each being available in a range of colours and thicknesses. The 25 Shore A is trademarked as Impression Puff™ and the 65 as Microcel Puff® FM™, with the ‘FM’ meaning ‘firm material’.
Acor’s recommendations for each density are:
25: Top layer in orthotics,body jacket linings, and other padding
35: Top and bottom layers in foot orthotics, lifts, postings, and prosthetic liners and cones
45: Top and bottom layer in foot orthotics, lifts, postings, arch fill and prosthetic liners
55: Base layer in orthotics, posting and scaphoid reinforcement
65: Base and central core in foot orthotics; midsoles and rigid posting
Microcel Puff is grindable and the recommended heating temperatures prior to molding are:
25: 120°-135° C (250°-275° F) for 2-3 min
35: 120°-135° C (250°-275° F) for 2-3 min
45: 105°-135° C (225°-275° F) for 2-3 min
55: 135°-150° C (275°-300° F) for 4-5 min.
65: 135°-150° C (275°-300° F) for 2-5 min.
