Pitted Keratolysis

Corynebacterium infection – also due to Micrococcus sedentarius.
Appear as superficial, discrete, circular lesions/pits on the plantar surface of the foot – have a ‘punched out’ or ‘moth eaten’ appearance –1 to 4mm in diameter. Not usually painful.
Skin is hyperhidrotic and may have bromhidrosis.
Treatment – use antibacterial soaps and treat hyperhidrosis; may need erythromycin
