“Chronic venous or lymphatic insufficiency may cause dermatitis. The
classic distribution of venous or varicose eczema is on the gaiter area
of the leg (lower shin and calf), although it can also extend onto the
foot. There is often a history of varicose veins or of deep vein thrombosis. Oedema, increased pigmentation (haemosiderin deposition),
purpura and ulceration are often present with the dermatitis. “
