Popliteus:
Proximal attachment – popliteal groove of lateral condyle of femur
Distal attachment – head of fibula
Function – flexion of knee; medial rotation of leg or lateral rotation of femur; stance phase muscle; prevents forward glide of femur on tibia.
Nerve supply – tibial nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Arterial supply – posterior tibial artery; medial inferior genicular artery
