Commonly due to hyperextension of joint with the foot in a slightly dorsiflexed position.
Management:
RICE; strapping and rigid shank shoe to restrict dorsiflexion; nonsteroidial anti-inflammatory medication; physical therapy – range of motion exercises
Prevention – rigid shoe inserts
