McCord (1998) – “I have learned in no uncertain terms that a basic understanding of mental disorders is critical to becoming an effective podiatric physician”.

Evidence is that those discharged from an acute psychiatric institution are no more likely to commit a violent act than the rest of the population (May – Archives of General Psychiatry ??1998).

“Loose control” – do not block exit, do not confront physically or try to restrain call police – they are trained to deal with these people.
