Liver is part of digestive tract – connected via portal veins and bile ducts. Performs a large variety of functions.

Gallblader

Liver functions:
• excretory (bile salts, bilirubin)
• metabolic (carbohydrate, lipids, protein)
• storage (copper, iron, vitamins)
• synthetic (albumin, coagulation factors, complement, transferrin, protease inhibitors)
