The Normal Distribution:
The typical ‘bell shaped’ distribution. Described by two parameter – the mean (centre) and standard deviation (spread).
Mathematical property of normal distribution – 95% of the distribution lies between the mean + 1.96 x standard deviation
Key assumption of parametric statistical tests is that the sample data are normally distributed.
