The Simple Ankle Value is a patient reported outcome measure (PROM) where patients grade their ankle function as a percentage of that of the opposite uninjured ankle.

The Simple Ankle Value (SAV) consists of the question: “How normal do you consider your ankle function to be today, as a percentage?” The response is on a scale from 0% to 100%, with 100% being normal.

Research on Simple Ankle Value:
Barnavon et al (2003) compared the Simple Ankle Value (SAV) to the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) and the European Foot & Ankle Society (EFAS) score and reported a strong correlation between them.
