Data Breach

It was reported that hackers gained access to data on a potential 40 491 individuals at the Stamford Podiatry Group between February 22 and April 14, 2016. The information viewed included the medical histories, treatment information, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, genders, marital statuses, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, names of doctors and insurance information.

Rui DeMelo, DPM from the Stamford Podiatry Group notified all patients; outlined the nature of the breach and steps taken to prevent it; and offering patients free enrollment in a credit monitoring service to protect them from attempts at identify theft, in a letter:
